LAC+USC MEDICAL CENTER

Founded in 1878, Los Angeles County LAC+USC Medical Center (LAC+USC) is the nation's largest academic institution. It is one of the largest acute care hospitals in the United States and has been the primary facility of the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California since 1885. It is licensed for 600 beds and budgeted to staff 745 beds.

LAC+USC provides a full spectrum of emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services. These include medical, surgical, emergency/trauma services, obstetrical, gynecological, pediatric, and specialized neonatal intensive care services as well as psychiatric services for adults, adolescents, and children. The Medical Center also operates a hyperbaric chamber on Catalina Island.

As the largest single provider of healthcare in Los Angeles County, LAC+USC provides the community with more than 28 percent of its trauma care. It operates one of three burn centers in the County and one of the few Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Southern California. It trains approximately 1,500 medical professionals per day, including more than 870 medical residents in nearly all medical specialties, 160 students of nursing and health professionals such as pharmacists, midwives, physician assistants; physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapists; dieticians, podiatrist, and laboratory, and radiologic technologists.


 
 

KECK HOSPITAL OF USC

Keck Hospital of USC is a private 411-bed acute care hospital staffed by the more than 500 faculty physicians of the renowned Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.

Keck Hospital of USC offers some of the most sophisticated technology available. Among the hospital's advanced services are neurointerventional radiology, minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery, robotic surgery and interventional cardiology. Surgical specialties include organ transplantation and neurosurgery, as well as cardiothoracic, bariatric, esophageal, orthopedic, and plastic and reconstructive surgeries. The hospital is ranked in several specialty areas in the U.S. News & World Report, including gastroenterology, geriatrics, gynecology, neurology and neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology.


 
 

USC NORRIS CANCER HOSPITAL

USC Norris Cancer Hospital is one of only a few facilities in Southern California built exclusively for cancer research and patient care. The hospital features a designated bone marrow transplantation unit and a surgical unit with specially trained staff who strive to meet the unique needs of cancer patients and their loved ones.

USC Norris Cancer Hospital is affiliated with the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center – one of the original eight comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute. The close affiliation between the hospital and cancer center offers immediate benefit to patients seeking the latest breakthroughs in cancer prevention and treatment. Clinical trials are available for eligible patients who may have failed conventional cancer treatment.

Outpatients seeking diagnostic testing, chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and second opinions are treated on-site. USC Norris Cancer Hospital also has a radiation oncology department equipped with a CyberKnife and a Varian Trilogy Linear Accelerator, providing the latest state-of-the-art technology, such as stereotactic radiosurgery, intensity modulated radiation therapy, and image guided radiation therapy.

USC Norris Cancer Hospital offers advanced treatment in an intimate setting primarily devoted to cancer treatment and research. Treatment options may include surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, and newer approaches to cancer management, such as immunotherapy and gene therapy.
